More than a Building, the Center is your Beginning PDF Print E-mail

Enjoy exploring the many interactive exhibits, classes and displays.

First Floor:

Discover why the Wabasha area and Hiawatha Valley have such a thriving eagle population. Learn about the rich heritage of Chief Wapasha, the town’s namesake, and its early culture. Meet our rescued, non-releasable eagles: Harriet, Angel, Columbia, Donald and  Was’ aka. Test your vision, strength and wingspan compared to the eagles. Photo gallery of first floor.

Second Floor:

The second floor is dedicated to the eagle’s “human connection.” The eagle is symbolic for MANY reasons. All the physical attributes you discovered on the first floor will help you understand WHY the eagle is an important icon for so many cultures.

You will be awestruck by our Object Theatre presentation, "A Dakotah Family Legacy," wherein a local Native American man takes you on the journey of his life and relationship with this bird. You will be inspired by Eagle Stories, the powerful stories offered by veterans, naturalists, Native Americans and others.

The National Eagle Center is proud to offer many traveling exhibits and guest speakers. We have shown: Professional photographers’ exhibits, local photo contests, Bell Museum traveling shows, the Science Museum’s extint and near extinct animals exhibit, and interactive exhibits. You will learn proactive strategies for pollution control, lead reduction and other “difficult” topics in a fun and easily understood manner. There is always something new to see at the National Eagle Center. Photo gallery of second floor.
